In the 100 days leading up to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, I am counting down my 100 favorite things about Star Wars. Here begins the Top 10:
 
#10: Han and Chewie
 
Best friends in the universe. You can’t have one without the other. Legend has it, Han, while in the Imperial Navy, freed Chewbacca from slavery. Ever since, Chewbacca has a “life debt” with Han. The two have flown from one end of the galaxy to the other, and seen a lot of strange things. But, helping out an old man, a young farm boy and two droids changed their paths forever. I love their relationship: the smugglers that always have each others backs, their adventures filled with close calls and narrow escapes. These two are the true dynamic duo!

#11: X-Wing Fighter
 
The Incom T-65 X-Wing starfighter is the workhorse of Rebel Alliance. It’s the ship that killed the Death Star, among many, many other missions. It fits one pilot and one R2 astromech droid, for navigation and repairs. I love it’s now iconic look. It reminds me for old World War II planes, like the P-38 Lightning. But it’s the ‘s-foils’, the movable wings that made it stand out in the Star Wars universe. And it made a hell of a fun toy too!

#12: R2-D2
 
This spunky little astromech droid is one of the few characters to appear in all of the movies (so far). He is always there when you need a hand…or need to open a door…or need to conceal a lightsaber…or shock a Jedi master on Degobah. Played by Kenny Baker (yes, there was a person inside), Artoo is the can-do droid of the Star Wars universe. He will always have a special place in my heart as the best droid* in the Star Wars Universe.
 
(*author reserves the right to change his mind when he finally sees BB-8 in The Force Awakens)

#13: Stormtrooper Armor
 
The Empire has always had the coolest toys, best of all the Stormtrooper armor. I have always liked the look of it, from the helmet to the boots. The design is so sleek and cool, from the regular trooper, to the Biker Scout to the Tie Pilot. I love the 501st Legion (the Stormtrooper armor building charity organization) and their dedication to perfections. Buckets off to you guys and gals!

#14: My Helmet Collection
 
Emperor’s Royal Guard. Stormtrooper. Boba Fett. Darth Vader. My Don Post helmet collection is the favorite of my collections. Ever watching over my office at home, these four have been with me for years. They have been parts of costumes, living room decorations and even wear Santa hats this time of year. Maybe they will be joined by some new friends after The Force Awakens opens.

#15: Lando Calrissian
 
“He’s a card player, gambler, scoundrel. You’d like him.” Let’s hear it for Lando, one of the smoothest characters in the Star Wars Universe. But, don’t let the smoothness fool you. He is also a cunning pilot and warrior. Even though he had a rocky start to joining the Rebel Alliance, he proved his worth time and again. And not even Vader could wear a cape better than him!

Happy Wednesday, Fankind! One of the best parts about being a comic book store owner is having early access to comics. I usually read a few books early to make recommendations. There are a few books I make sure to read when they come in, but the #1 book I read first when it arrives is EAST OF WEST. It is hands down my favorite monthly book coming out. Issue #22 is a perfect example of why I love this book so much. The combination of art by Nick Dragotta and writing by Jonathan Hickman is perfection. Absolutely brilliant.

#16: The Aluminum Falcon
How could this NOT follow the Millennium Falcon??? I could watch this a million times…and probably have. And it’s not just this skit. All of Robot Chicken Star Wars bits are great. But this one is my favorite.
