#25: The Making Of Star Wars books by J.W. Rinzler

Want to know highly detailed behind-the-scenes information about the making of the original trilogy? Then these are the books for you. Chock FULL of chronological information, pictures, notes and anything you can think of from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, these books are every Star Wars (and film enthusiast) dream come true. They are worth it alone for the photos, but the information is incredible too. More than worth having in your collection.

In the 100 days leading up to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, I am counting down my 100 favorite things about Star Wars. Here is today’s entry:

#26: Star Tours

What could be better than watching a Star Wars movie? How about a Star Wars movie simulator!!! Originally opening at Disneyland in 1987, this ride put you IN the Star Wars universe. Visited early…and often. What starts as a trip to Endor turns into much more when the Star Tours shuttle goes off course. It is a lot of fun. The original version of the ride closed in 2010 to make way for Star Tours-The Adventure Continues. I haven’t been to the new updated version yet, but soon.

27 Days Until STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

In the 100 days leading up to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, I am counting down my 100 favorite things about Star Wars. Here is today’s entry:

#27: Death Star Playset

One of the best (and largest) of the original Star Wars toys. This playset had everything: trash compactor, an elevator, the ledge for Obi-Wan to balance on. The giant gun at the top reminds me of the Navigator from ALIEN. I still have my Death Star packed away in the garage. Maybe one day I will rebuild it and see if Luke and Leia can make it across the bridge. Without kissing, of course.

28 Days Until STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

In the 100 days leading up to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, I am counting down my 100 favorite things about Star Wars. Here is today’s entry:

#28: Seeing The Phantom Menace

First off, let me say it is now less than a month away from The Force Awakens! It’s kinda hard to believe. It takes me back to waiting and burning to see The Phantom Menace. I was living back east at the time and traveled into New York City to see it with my brother and a friend. I was bouncing off the walls excited. The day before was agony (not really, because I was in New York with PLENTY to do, but you get the idea). We waited in line for a couple of hours before and time seemed to slow down. Midnight couldn’t come fast enough! But it was that buzz… that feeling of seeing new Star Wars for the first time in years. To be with friends and family, to share that experience. I know, it sounds corny, but you also know what I am talking about. When that crawl hit the screen with the John Williams music, it was magic. Something I will get to revisit in less than a month.

29 Days Until STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

In the 100 days leading up to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, I am counting down my 100 favorite things about Star Wars. Here is today’s entry:

#29: C-3PO trading card #207

The image kinda speaks for itself and is a real trading card from the original Star Wars set. I don’t really know what happened here. Some say it was a piece of C-3PO that fell off at the same time the photographer was taking the picture. All I know is that it made it into circulation. It was replaced with an image that was touched up (which is actually harder to find and worth more) but what was done, was done. It was out there for the world to see.

30 Days Until STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

In the 100 days leading up to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, I am counting down my 100 favorite things about Star Wars. Here is today’s entry:

#30: Blue Milk and Bok Choy

The wonder that is the famous blue milk of Tatooine has a giant cult following of it’s own. With a screen time of maybe 10 seconds, the “pour heard ’round the galaxy” has made blue milk the drink of choice for farm boys and future Jedi. And it took me years to realize that Aunt Beru was cooking bok choy in the kitchen.
Side note: Aunt Beru always looked like the only one in the Star Wars universe that didn’t have a costume. Everyone else is wearing robes and flight suits. Meanwhile, she is wearing the latest 1970’s fashion from the JC Penny’s catalogue!

31 Day Until STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

In the 100 days leading up to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, I am counting down my 100 favorite things about Star Wars. Here is today’s entry:

#31: The lightsaber duel from The Phantom Menace

This was the first time we got to see Jedi’s in their prime fighting it out with the Sith. While I love the lightsaber duels from the original trilogy, this one is fantastic. Some would say the best part of the prequels. This is in large part due to Ray Park (aka Darth Maul) and his athletic prowess. And having it all edited together into one fluid scene makes it all the better.

32 Day Until STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

In the 100 days leading up to STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, I am counting down my 100 favorite things about Star Wars. Here is today’s entry:
#32: Eddie Izzard’s Death Star Canteen (WARNING! BAD LANGUAGE!! NOT FOR KIDS!!!)
This is one of the funniest bits about the Death Star. Where exactly did they eat? Eddie Izzard has an idea about the canteen. There is a LOT of “colorful” language, so don’t watch with the kids around.
